SKELETONWITCH Announces Dates With CANNABIS CORPSE

December 27, 2008

Ohio's sons of Midwestern darkness SKELETONWITCH will play a handful of headlining dates in early January with the Richmond, Virginia-based old-school death metal band CANNABIS CORPSE (featuring Philip "Landphil" Hall of MUNICIPAL WASTE). The run of dates culminates in Brooklyn, New York where the 'WITCH and CANNABIS CORPSE will be joined by Brooklyn's own crusty rippers ATAKKE for the second monthly installment of Pitchfork's Show No Mercy Showcase. Adding to the heshed out festivities will be special guest DJ Lev Weinstein of KRALLICE and BLOODY PANDA. The man responsible for the über-brutal evening is Show No Mercy scribe Brandon Stosuy.

SKELETONWITCH dates with CANNABIS CORPSE:

Jan. 09 - Lemoyne, PA @ Champion Ship
Jan. 10 - Philadelphia, PA @ Kung Fu Necktie*
Jan. 11 - Brooklyn, NY @ Public Assembly**

* w/ JAVELINA
** w/ ATAKKE

SKELETONWITCH is in the process of writing the follow-up to 2007's critically acclaimed album "Beyond The Permafrost". The new CD is slated for a late summer 2009 release on Prosthetic Records.

SKELETONWITCH was interviewed by Robert Williams of Metal-Rules.com at the October 29, 2008 San Antonio, Texas stop of the Blackest Of The Black tour, which also featured headliners DANZIG alongside DIMMU BORGIR, WINDS OF PLAGUE and MOONSPELL. Watch the chat below.

SKELETONWITCH recently completed filming its debut video from "Beyond The Permafrost", which saw an October 2007 release through Prosthetic Records. Combining live footage from Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio and additional narrative footage from various locales in southern Ohio from earlier this summer, the b-roll footage was wrapped in September. Director Brian Wiebe is a friend of the band and successful graduate of Ohio University's School of Film in Athens, the unholy birthplace of "The Witch."

"Beyond The Permafrost" is SKELETONWITCH's second full-length and third release overall after 2006's "Worship The Witch" EP and 2004's "At One With The Shadows", both independent, self-financed releases.
